Henry-Frédéric Roch, co-manager of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) and owner of Domaine Prieuré-Roch, died last Saturday night at the age of 56.
He became co-manager of the Romanée-Conti estate following the death of his brother Charles in a car accident, and represented the Leroy family at the head of Romanée-Conti. He was the son of Pauline Roch-Leroy, the eldest sister of Lalou Bize-Leroy, who had quit co-management of the DRC in 1991 after a difficult collaboration with Aubert de Villaine.
Henry-Frédéric Roch also developed his own vineyard, Domaine Prieuré-Roch, in 1988. It was one of the first 100% natural estates and the first to promote raw wines in Burgundy and France.
