EU confirms 25% tariff on US Whiskey and Bourbon

After President Trump imposed a 25% import duty on steel and a 10% duty on aluminium exported from Europe, Mexico and Canada, the European Commission has confirmed that it would be “rebalancing” import tariffs on US-made products in response.

The sanctions imposed by the US are expected to affect €6.4 billion of imports annually, whereas EU sanctions are expected to impact €2.8 billion of US exports to the EU.

Imports of bourbon and American whiskey will be subject to an additional 25% tariff from July 2018.

Bourbon and American whiskey are just two of the products targeted in a lengthy list of goods imported from the US.
