Cognac authority announces third consecutive year of growth

Export figures for the period 1 August 2016 to 31 July 2017 show a growth of 10.2% in volume and 15.2% in value, with 190.2 million bottles exported and €3 billion in sales.

The Far East was particularly dynamic, with an increase of 10.6% in volume and 19.4% in value compared with the previous year (53.7 million bottles were shipped to this region in 2016–17).

Another 82.1 million bottles were exported to the NAFTA free trade zone, which includes North America and Canada. Exports to this market increased by 9.3% in volume and 13.5% in value.

In Europe the growth was driven by the UK and Germany, with volumes up 3.6% and 22.2% respectively, and by Russia and the Baltic, with a spectacular 73.2% increase in volume.

Exports to China accounted for 22.6 million bottles.
