Bruno Giacosa, Barolo and Barbaresco winemaker, died in hospital on Sunday 21 January, at the age of 88.
Giacosa attained legendary status in Piedmont with the new wave of winemakers during the 1980s and 90s. He acquired his own estate in 1982, although he had been making wine in Piedmont since 1960. His vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba became one of the best in all of Piedmont.
His daughters, Bruna and Marina, took over the running of the domain after Giacosa suffered a stroke in 2006.
