Clos Rougeard sold to the Bouygues brothers

The iconic Clos Rougeard in Saumur-Champigny has been sold to French billionaires Olivier and Martin Bouygues.

The Bouygues brothers announced the purchase of Loire legend Clos Rougeard through a press release. Clos Rougeard is an iconic domain that has been owned by eight generations of the Foucault family.

‘This property has become an emblem of the Saumur region thanks to the exceptional work of Charly and Nady Foucault. It produces one of the greatest Cabernet Franc wines in the world,’ said the press release.

No fee was disclosed, and Nady will run the domain.

Olivier and Martin Bouygues are also owners of Château Montrose and Château Tronquoy Lalande in Saint-Estèphe.
