Vivino announces premium delivery service

Vivino, the world’s most popular wine community and online marketplace, has launched a premium wine delivery service.

Vivino Premium is offering customers an unlimited free delivery service on more than 32,000 varieties of wine for an annual fee of €39.

Heini Zachariassen, the CEO of Vivino, said, “Wine has not been that big in e-commerce. We think one of the reasons for that is shipping – it’s incredibly expensive. We want to take that out of the equation.”

After the announcement that the Amazon Wine marketplace will close at the end of 2017, this sounds like a new “equation” for Vivino.

Vivino is powered by 27 million customers and wants to help local and regional wine merchants to develop business through this new service. “Small merchants have amazing wines in their stores, but it’s hard for normal consumers to reach them. The cool thing about Vivino is the immense reach that we have. We can get our stuff out to the masses very quickly,” said Zachariassen.

Vivino’s goal is to sell $1 billion worth of wine by the end of 2020.
