Australia # 1 importer to the UK

Australia remains the UK’s number one wine provider with 25.2 million 9-litre cases imported in 2014, but its exports are declining. In the five years 2010 to end 2014 they fell by 11.8% by volume. The decline is forecast to continue in the run up to 2019 when volume will reach 25 million cases. Over the same period the volume of UK wine imports from Italy increased by 13.9%. In 2014 imports reached 21.8 million 9-litre cases (still+sparkling). In the same year Italy overtook France as a major UK importer for the first time and became the second largest wine supplier after Australia.  Over the same period, French imports remained stable reaching 19.4 million cases in 2014
